Forced-Air Cooling

The Polar Air™ II Forced-air Cooling System.

The Polar Air II is a self contained, easily transportable, combined forced air cooling and warming unit. It has been designed for use in all clinical areas. The Polar Air II draws ambient air in from the surrounding environment that passes through proven thermoelectric technology before exiting the unit to deliver cool or warm air to the patient through a Bair Hugger blanket.

Reliable, safe and easy-to-use, the Polar Air II is simply switched on and through the use of simple controls, the user can deliver cold air to patients at temperatures from ambient down to 10°C. To slowly rewarm patients, or maintain normothermia in those not requiring therapeutic hypothermia, the same unit can warm air from ambient temperature to a maximum of 43°C.

Both warming and cooling therapies are applied through the use of the cost-effective Bair Hugger™ forced-air blankets already used in many hospitals. The model 610 Full Body blanket was designed for patient cooling and re-warming in a cardiac ICU or emergency setting. The model 610 Full Body Blanket is a light weight blanket that easily can be applied to the patient. Six convenient panels allow for quick and easy access to the patient’s chest, arms and lower body.
